Through the award-winning Cloudinary WordPress Plugin, you can easily crop, resize, transcode, add overlays, and optimize images and videos in real time. And with support for the popular WooCommerce platform, you can manage all of your eCommerce assets in one place, simplifying your team’s workflow. All the rich media is delivered through global content delivery networks (CDNs).

Digital Asset Management

Cloudinary’s embedded media library makes it easy to maintain a single source of truth across different teams with AI-powered tagging and search, metadata management, cross-team collaboration through comments and sharing, and access control.

Multi-Level Transformations

Manipulate images and videos at a global level, taxonomy (category or tag) level or manipulate each individual asset on the fly, before inserting it into your site.

Global Transformations

Your settings allow you to configure a set of global transformations and optimizations that you want to apply to all your images, and optionally a different set for videos.

The following global settings enable responsive breakpoint generation with a maximum of 5 breakpoints, configures the format and quality to be set automatically, and overlays the Cloudinary logo in the bottom right corner of the image.

Taxonomy Transformations

By controlling transformations at a taxonomy level, you can automate your transformations and optimizations, simply by adding a category or tag and controlling whether to overwrite the globally applied transformations.

The following tag set up will update all images with the Instagram tag to have a width of 450px and an Instagram preview underlay.

The following category set up goes through all posts under the Portfolio category and will update the quality to the highest level of 100 and apply a watermark to all images which don’t already have these transformations applied.

Individual Transformations

Transformations on individual images and videos can be created and inserted using the media editor. Here you can apply a multitude of transformations such as format selection, resizing, cropping, filters and effects, overlays, and much more.

Dynamic Video Delivery

Cloudinary automates the entire video publishing workflow—from creating variants for different campaigns, including vertical and square videos, to transcoding, optimizing, and delivering video to every screen. With the customizable video player, you can specify if you want your videos to autoplay, display controls, limit the bitrate, and more.

Use extensible APIs to easily integrate with other upstream and downstream applications in your tech stack or leverage built-in integrations with popular applications — including the WooCommerce platform — to create a single source of truth across teams and systems. And with Cloudinary’s integrated support for Gutenberg and classic WordPress editors designing your posts and pages is easier than ever before.

Image Metadata Cruncher

What does this plugin do?

Image Metadata Cruncher lets you control what metadata is extracted and displayed with your images.

This plugin is a must-have tool for photographers who edit their images in Lightroom or Photomechanic and don’t want to waste their precious time by writing all the keywords and categories once again by hand.

WordPress.com by default extracts the EXIF ImageDescription of an uploaded image to the Description field and the IPTC Headline to the Title field of the Edit Media form, but Image Metadata Cruncher gives you ultimate control over this behavior. You decide what metadata gets inserted where and in what form.

How do I set it up?

Once you’ve activated the plugin, go to Settings→Image Metadata Cruncher in your Dashboard’s sidebar menu. There, you can specify your Media form fields and meta tags:

Image Settings

Now when you upload images, the Attachment Details will fill in as you have specified:

Image details

For more information, please see the full plugin documentation here.

What features does the plugin offer?

  • Extract and process IPTC, EXIF and other image metadata.
  • Convert the extracted metadata into complex strings with the plugin’s simple but powerfull templating system.
  • Extract metadata to unlimited custom post meta fields that will be saved with the image to the database.
  • Crunch already uploaded attachments with the crunch() method.

Get The Image

Get the Image is a plugin that grabs images for you. It was designed to make the process of things such as adding thumbnails, feature images, and/or other images to your blog much easier, but it’s so much more than that. It is an image-based representation of your WordPress posts.

This is a highly intuitive script that can grab an image by custom field input, WP’s post image feature, post attachment, or extracting it from the post’s content.

WordPress.com Thumbnail Editor

What does this plugin do?

The plugin provides a helpful interface for direct control over the look of your thumbnail images. Select the crop location and portion of the fullsize image you’d like to use and the plugin takes care of the rest.

How do I set it up?

After you’ve activated the plugin, edit any image, and you’ll see a new “Show Thumbnails” button:

Thumbnail button

When you click the thumbnail to edit, you’ll be taken to a screen where you can crop your image:

Ratio Mapping Support

If you have 10 different 3:2 images and you want to apply the same crop to them all, you have to edit each one individually. The plugin supports ratio mapping, which is like saying “all these add_image_size definitions belong together”. Instead of having the user edit every single thumbnail, they only need to edit one image per ratio definition.

Photon is smart enough so that you can save the same coordinates for each image definition and have it output a cropped result that is proportionate. When the user saves one image for a given ratio, it looks at the image ratio map and just updates the meta value so it applies to all the similar crops for that image.

Here’s how you can define a custom image map:

add_filter( 'wpcom_thumbnail_editor_args', function( $args ) {
	$args['image_ratio_map'] = array(
		'3:2' => array(
		'16:9' => array(

	return $args;
} );

The structure of the image_ratio_map looks something like:

	'ratio-name' => array(

If the image_ratio_map is not defined, the plugin will just default to standard behavior, which is individual crops for all image sizes.

Watermark Image Uploads

What does this plugin do?

The plugin applies a watermark to all images that you upload to your site, either via the dashboard or via mobile.

The watermark can either be located within your theme (useful for a shared theme used on many sites) or configured via the settings page.

How do I set it up?

After activating the plugin, go to Settings→Image Watermarking in your Dashboard’s sidebar menu. There, you can upload an image or choose one from your theme:

Watermark Settings

Now each image you upload will have the watermark added to it automatically:

Marked image

Kimili Flash Embed

Kimili Flash Embed is a plugin for WordPress that allows you to easily place Flash movies on your site. Built upon SWFObject javascript code, it is standards compliant, search engine friendly, highly flexible and full featured, as well as easy to use.

Kimili Flash Embed utilizes SWFObject 2.2, is fully compatible with WordPress 2.6 and later and plays well with most other plugins.

Dynamic Content Gallery

This plugin creates a dynamic gallery of images for latest and/or featured content using either the JonDesign SmoothGallery script for mootools, or a custom jQuery script. The plugin dynamically creates the gallery from your latest and/or featured content by either automatically pulling in the first Image Attachment from relevant Posts/Pages, or by specifying image URLs in a DCG Metabox in the Write screen for the relevant Posts/Pages. Additionally, default images can be displayed in the event that Posts/Pages don’t have an Image Attachment or manually specified image. A Dashboard Settings page gives access to a comprehensive range of options for populating the gallery and configuring its look and behaviour. The DCG can be added to your theme as a Widget, or by using a template tag.
